Club Open Day June 2023
17th June 2023

The club held a very successful open day, with over 100 attendees. There was family Cardio, junior and adult coaching, as well as refreshments, BBQ and a little competition. Jenny was the lucky winner of the competition to guess the value of copper coins in the tennis ball tube, which was £8.25
There was a summer special membership on offer as well for attendees on the day, which encouraged several families to join the club - we look forward to seeing them on court soon.
Here are some pictures of the event:

Club House Opening
July 2021

MLTC’s new purpose built, bespoke clubhouse was opened on Saturday 10th July and in attendance to unveil the new clubhouse plaque, alongside MLTC's Co-Chairs Richard Dawson and Georgina Noakes, was John Ratcliffe - Clubs and Community Engagement and Lead Board Member for Clubs at Kent Lawn Tennis Association.

The 475 sqft building is over 50% larger than the old clubhouse, with a smart, modern interior including bi-fold doors over looking the four tennis courts, a kitchen, dining area, two toilets (one disabled access) and ample storage.  Outside, members can enjoy the paved and lawned social areas.

The Building Project Manager, Nick Yandle, said: "The new Clubhouse will provide modern, flexible facilities for the growing membership of all ages for many years to come.”

The amount of people who have given their time and money to this project has been staggering and MLTC would like to extend a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped make the new clubhouse possible including all their funders, sponsors, Hotshotz coaches, members of the club, our neighbours and the public using Giddyhorn Park.  The positive interest in the new building has been overwhelming.

With Many Thanks to our Sponsors/Funders:

LTA, KCC, MBC, Ashton Lewis Kitchens, BerryRange construction, Gallagher Group, Richard Ewence from Rosemount Mortgage Planning, the Raines family for supplying BEKO kitchen appliances, Kent Community Foundation.

35 Year Anniversary Event - Saturday 27th April 2019

Update: An article about our event was published in the Kent LTA magazine (page 46):  http://www.kenttennis.org/news-directory/ewExternalFiles/KLT%20Spring%202019%20LR.pdf

MLTC recently celebrated its 35th anniversary as a club. To mark the occasion it held a free event, open to members and non-members which proved to be a great family day. Despite the inclement weather the club had a brilliant turn out with about 25 juniors and 35 adults taking part with 10 new members signing up on the day. The Deputy President of Kent LTA, John Watton, came along to show his support. He said: “The transformation of the club in the last few years is remarkable. With excellent club volunteers working well with HOTSHOTZ providing quality coaching, it is no surprise that the membership has trebled and a friendly and positive atmosphere has evolved and is now present during all club and coaching sessions.”

Activities at the event included a family fun cardio tennis session, where the juniors certainly showed the adults that they could run rings around them! There were adult and junior coaching sessions, as well as the opportunity for people to test their tennis skills. Family members were competing to see who could serve the fastest and the ball machine was a hit with all ages. The coaches’ skills were put to the test when they played against some of the participants, but with only a frying pan instead of a racket!! The event was rounded off with a well earnt BBQ.
